Abstract

This bibliography of dissertations in music presented to Portuguese institutions of higher education, by Portuguese nationals to foreign institutions, written by foreigners living in this country, or whose themes are related to Portugal, attempts to fill a serious gap in the knowledge of Portuguese music research, by providing information on dissertations both completed and in progress at the various academic institutions. Entries have been standardized, with indications which allow for easy identification and location of each dissertation, and accompanied, where possible, by an abstract.

Author Biography

Patrícia Lopes Bastos

PATRÍCIA LOPES BASTOS did her general music studies at the Instituto Gregoriano de Lisboa and the Conservatório Nacional in Lisbon. She completed the Curso de Piano of the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, holds a Piano Diploma from the Music Faculty at the Utrecht School for the Arts, and the Master of Music degree in Piano Interpretation from the University of Nebrasca at Lincoln, U.S.A, and has also attended courses and seminars on the Interpretation of Early Keyboard Music. She is currently doing a Ph.D. in Music at the University of Aveiro. She has given recitals and lectures in Portugal and abroad. Her main field of interest is Portuguese keyboard music since the 18th century.
